Places to eat near Winchester Cathedral
Eating and drinking within a few minutes' walk of the Cathedral Close, with the honest arrival facts: which car park serves each one, and which pub does not take visitor parking.
The practical answer
Three established spots sit within a couple of minutes of the Cathedral Close. The Old Vine faces Cathedral Green on a pedestrian square — walk over from Brooks or Colebrook Street parking, or about 15 minutes from the station. The Wykeham Arms stands between the Cathedral and Winchester College on Kingsgate Street, but its rear parking is for staying guests only, so visitors should use the Cathedral or College Street area. The Eclipse Inn on The Square is a small historic pub for a pint rather than a big dining room, again reached on foot from Brooks or the Cathedral-area car parks.
